 Project summary

The chemical industry has been using fossil resources, especially oil to produce products such as thermoplastic polyurethanes.

The present project aims to introduce in the footwear EU market a new family of polyurethanes made from renewable raw sources based on plants oil, with similar properties to those obtained from fossil fuels.

MERQUINSA will produce the raw ecoTPU for footwear. FORESTALI and RESIMOL will use the raw ecoTPU to make ecoTPU stiffeners and soles and, finally, PEDRO GARCÍA will use these ecoTPU components to produce footwear. INESCOP will take care of footwear quality controls for the obtained components and shoes to ensure that the ecoTPU obtained products meet footwear standards.
